What is Wenner array in geo-electrical tomography method?

a. Wenner Alpha (α)

This array is applicable for fixed cross section scan measurement; electrode arrangement and movement are as follows:

Characteristics:
The measured pseudo-section above is an inverted trapezoid.

Description:
First, electrode M keeps unmoved, AM=MN=NB, system moves electrode A rightwards point by point, at the same time system moves electrodes B and N leftwards point by point, and thus we get the first roll-along line No.1; then system moves electrode M rightwards by one electrode spacing, and moves the electrode A rightwards point by point, at the same time moves electrodes B and N leftwards point by point, and thus we get the second roll-along line No.2; continue scan measuring like this, and finally we gain a pseudo-section in inverted trapezoid.

b. Wenner Beta (WENNER β)

This array is applicable for fixed cross section scan measurement; electrode arrangement and movement are as follows.

Characteristics:
The measured pseudo-section above is an inverted trapezoid.

Description:
First, electrode B keeps unmoved, AB=BM=MN, system moves electrode A rightwards point by point, at the same time moves electrode M and N leftwards point by point, and thus we get the first roll-along line No.1; then system moves electrode B rightwards by one electrode spacing, move electrode A rightwards point by point, at the same time moves electrode M and N leftwards point by point, and thus we get the second roll-along line No.2; continue scan measuring like this, and finally we gain a pseudo-section in inverted trapezoid.

c. Wenner Gamma (WENNER γ)

This array is applicable for fixed cross section scan measurement; electrode arrangement and movement are as follows.

Characteristics:
The measured pseudo-section above is an inverted trapezoid.

Description:
First, electrode M keeps unmoved, AM=MB=BN, system moves electrode A leftwards point by point, at the same time moves electrode B and N rightwards point by point, and thus we get the first roll-along line No.1; then system moves electrode M rightwards by one electrode spacing, and moves electrode A leftwards point by point, at the same time moves electrode M and N rightwards point by point, and thus we get the second roll-along line No.2; continue scan measuring like this, and finally we gain a pseudo-section in inverted trapezoid.
